  • for ensemble, electronics and multimedia - 2025

Written for the Residentie Ensemble, 43. Technetium* is an ever “improving” composition inspired by the AI culture in which we live today. We are all asking Artificial Intelligence to do this and that, but what if we ask our Natural Stupidity instead?

Stupidity here is addressed as a valuable resource of the human mind, for the only thing that machines will always lack is a sense of humor.

Moreover, machines learn and perform in an absolutely literal way, while we humans will inevitably spice up the game with our ideas, beliefs, biases, misses, judgments, and fears. Perhaps this is why AI art will always differ from human art.
